Alex Myrick

Alex Myrick is currently the owner of the critically acclaimed Blue Restaurant and Bar in Charlotte, NC. He has been in the restaurant industry for 30 years, from fast food to fine dining.

Alex’s areas of expertise include marketing, operations analysis and restaurant design. He has compiled a talented team of executives that make up his latest endeavor, Hospitality Management Group (HMG). Under his direction, HMG creates, develops and manages restaurants.

Born the son of an advertising executive, Alex understood marketing at a young age and quickly parleyed this talent into an early career. While attending college he took a job as a delivery driver for the then two-store franchise of Domino’s Pizza. In eighteen months, he rose from driver to manager to VP of Marketing at twenty years of age. The franchise grew to a seven million dollar company with 14 units in the six years Alex was with Dominos.

He then took a position with his family’s advertising agency. Alex was able to develop design and presentation skills while working in all areas of the agency business.

Myrick pitched the Bojangles’ Chicken and Biscuits account for the agency in 1990. While the agency did not get the account, Alex was offered and accepted the job of Director of Marketing for the Bojangles’ corporation. Alex was soon promoted to the Director of Operations Analysis where he participated in the company growing from 19 corporate stores to 210 – in three years.

Alex went on to open his first business, a Steak n’ Hoagie/Greco’s Rotisserie Chicken franchise. He successfully owned and operated two stores for seven years.

It was during this time that Alex created the idea that would become Blue Restaurant & Bar. The growing popularity of Uptown Charlotte attracted him. He created an environment and restaurant not yet seen in the city. Blue has successfully operated for twelve years. Alex also created and operates Osso Restaurant and Lounge and Eight Sushi and Asian Kitchen.
